Body Found in Merrimack Believed to be Missing Nashua Man

Deceased elderly man was found on Bowers Pond by two teens.

A body found in Merrimack at just past noon on Aug. 6, appears be an elderly man from Nashua, who had been missing since Aug. 4.

Police aren’t releasing the name officially until the next of kin can be reached. But Sgt. Dave Ouellette of the New Hampshire Marine Patrol noted in a press statement that “the deceased is an elderly male believed to be the subject of a missing persons report filed with Nashua Police Department on August 4, 2014.”

That man is Lucas Urena, 78, who was reported missing around 5 p.m. on Aug. 4, by the Nashua Police Department, according to posts on the department’s social networking sites.

According to Ouellette, Merrimack Police received a call from 911 about a body found in the pond by two teenage boys who were walking near the Pennichuck Brook.

There is no indication of foul play and an autopsy will be performed on Aug. 7.

Along with Merrimack Police and Fire, Marine Patrol, Nashua Police, and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, all responded to the scene.
