Both World Academy Basketball Teams Take Division 3 Championships
Both the boys and girls Middle School NorthStars captured the Division 3 Tri-County Championship.
It was a great weekend of basketball for the World Academy NorthStars of Nashua! After finishing the regular season undefeated, the boys controlled their championship run by defeating Hopkinton Middle School by a comfortable margin.
The girls finished the season 13-2. World Academy girls were considered the underdogs heading into their championship game where they faced off against Bow for the third time this season.
With 35 seconds left, World Academy was down four points but the NorthStars kept their composure, focus and determination throughout. With an assist by Audrie Barker, Tahlia Pena knocked down a three to bring the game within one. With only seconds left, Brianna Peters came up with a clutch steal giving World Academy one last chance to win the game. With time dwindling down and the crowd screaming, Hannah Lynch drove strong to the basket and scored the winning shot with three seconds left on the clock, giving the team a championship win by a final score of 34-33!
