For Open Government in Nashua
Congratulations to BPW Commissioner Tracy Pappas! Tracy has been fighting for open government in Nashua in asking that the BPW meet in the evening when most citizens can participate. The Board of Aldermen has now unanimously gone on record in support of Tracy's position.
Brian McCarthy wrote a letter to the Board of Aldermen which includes the following paragraph:
"The Board of Aldermen believes that, in the interests of transparency and accessibility of government, all routine meetings of elected boards should be held in the evening hours when a maximum number of citizens can attend such meetings, or for that matter be able to pursue elected office on such boards."
Last night the Board adopted Brian's letter as the policy of the Board of Aldermen on a unanimous vote. This would not have happened if Tracy hadn't repeatedly raised the issue of open government at the BPW.
