We are just coming out of some very bitter cold weather, and once we hit February it's all downhill ... here in New Hampshire. But in 35 days, some people are about to head into some of the most vicious weather anywhere. I have followed the Iditarod for about 10 years. Man/woman and dog, thats it. Over 1,000 miles through harsh terrain and weather, from Anchorage to Nome, AK. In this day of heavy rules and regulations, in any aspect of our lives, the simplicity of the race is what I admire most.
Rules of the race:
The object of the race is to determine which musher and dogs can cover the race in the shortest time under their own power and without aid of others. That is determined by the nose of the first dog to cross the finish line.
