The Real Choice on Tuesday!

The real choice on Tuesday is not on Romney versus Obama, Bass versus Kuster or Brown versus Warren, but for or against a TeaParty-dominated GOP caucus and its extreme ideology on Government.

The real choice on Tuesday is not between Romney and Obama.  Not between Bass and Kuster.  Or Brown and Warren.  Its for or against the Tea Party's ideological agenda of small government of the poor and big government for women; the government out of business and into the bedroom; more guns and less talk.

It's an ideology that cutting taxes will reduce the deficit. It's a belief in rewarding winners, rather then supporting strivers, builders and learners.   It's an ideology deeply grounded in a believe in the old anti-federalist state rights ideas aimed to protect slavery against the abolishinist north and now used to protect businesses against their workers, to support the gambling habits of financial institutions and stop any science developed since the constitution from entering our classrooms.

It's conspiracy populism that insists that climate change is a myth even when its predictions of giant weather events like Sandy and new climate records all work out.  And it's a movement funded by those who benefit from this ideology: the 1 percent PACs, polluters like Murray, Wall street gamblers like Peterffy.

Romney, Bass and Brown are reasonable men that have sound views on many issues and some good ideas when it comes to making public services work better.  I support school choice for parents, competition between schools, trust in the professionalism of teachers.  The healthcare mandate was and is a good idea, that Romney promoted first.  He deserves the credit. Bipartisanship is critical and Bass and Brown are willing to talk.

However, they are part of a caucus that has been captured by the Tea Party.  That's pledged on taxes, not on paying bills. Committed to more originalist and "constitution in exile" justices like Scalia, Thomas and Alito. To Neocon middle east policy that will lead to more bombs, more boots and more chaos and uncertainty especially in Israel.  The Tea Party's GOP is not committed to making government work better, but to the anarchistic, individualistic, greed is good idea's of Ayn Rand and the extreme libertarians.

The real choice is between the hard, pragmatic and messy work of government and that wrong-headed ineffective and dangerous ideology.  That's why voting against the Tea Party down the ticket is the right choice on Tuesday.
