Urge NH Senate to Approve HB 135
Senators are being pressured by a scare campaign on HB 135. This legislation simply rolls back changes enacted last session to laws that worked for 34 years. It doesn't take away gun rights.

Someone is not telling the truth about HB 135 and in so doing trying to scare our citizens and pressure our legislators. Know the facts about HB 135 and then contact your local senator to urge him/her to vote in favor of this common-sense law.
HB 135 rolls back dangerous and unnecessary changes to state law that were enacted under Tea Party pressure two years ago. It restores the duty to retreat when in a public place if you feel you are in a life threatening situation, but only if you believe it is safe to do so. It does not interfere with your right of self-defense in public. It has nothing to do with using a gun in your own home. What it does is remove a reckless inducement to “shoot first and ask questions later,” one which some criminals have even tried to use to escape conviction after a shoot-out.
Solid research has shown these “stand your ground laws” – like what was added last session to NH statutes that had worked just fine for 34 years – not only don’t deter crime, but lead to increased homicides. They make the places where we work and our children play less safe. Don’t be misled by this scare campaign. HB 135 doesn’t take away any of your gun rights. It does increase public safety for all. Tell your senator to vote yes on HB 135, because well, it makes sense, and legislation that makes sense is the New Hampshire way.
