Faulty Dryer Cause of Lucier Street Fire

A dryer fire was the cause of a fire at 1 Lucier St. late Wednesday night.

Crews with Engine Company 1 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the 2 1/2-story multi-family home at about 9:45 p.m.

Although working smoke alarms alerted residents of the fire, crews searched the apartment for any remaining occupants as the dryer fire was extinguished.

The dryer was removed and the building was ventilated and all occupants were able to return to the building last night, fire officials said.

An investigation of the dryer at the scene indicated that the cause of the fire was improper wiring on the plug of the appliance causing an electrical overload.
