Burglary 101: The Cigarettes Gave Him Away

Man stopped in the wee hours walking on Mulberry Street charged in connection with burglary.

Roland Gendron, 45, of 19 Wilder St., Nashua, was arrested July 4 in connection with a convenience store burglary of cigarettes.

Patrol officers made contact with Gendron as he was walking in the area of Mulberry Street at about 3 a.m. on Wednesday. A backgroun check determined Gendron was wanted on an active warrant for a parole violation.

Patrol officers noted Gendron was in possession of a large quantity of cigarettes. It was later discovered that a downtown convenience store was the victim of an overnight burglary. Items stolen in the burglary included cigarettes. After an investigation by the Nashua Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, Gendron was charged in the convenience store burglary.

The burglary, a class B felony, is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Gendron is scheduled to be arraigned at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court on July 5, 2012 and is being held at the Nashua Police Department.
