Try buying a little less this year and loving a little more.
There is lots of good research that suggests those with a materialistic value orientation (MVO) tend to suffer from more depression and anxiety and tend to be less happy generally. Also, we know from the positive psychology research that having loving relationships is one of the keys to happiness. So, this year, instead of spending so much time buying and consuming, why not spend more time relating? Tell your loved ones that you are giving the gift of time instead of the typical stuff.
You will be happier and so will they. Merry Christmas.
