Two Nashua Treasures Await You!
Step into History on Sunday, June 22, 2025 | Noon to 3:00 PM
Come experience the charm and legacy of Nashua’s past as the Abbot Spalding House Museum - opens its doors for the season, alongside the always-fascinating Florence H. Speare Memorial Museum.
Located at 1 Abbott Street, the Abbot-Spalding House stands as a timeless symbol of Nashua’s early days. Built circa 1803, this elegant home was once the residence of Daniel Abbot, known as the “Father of Nashua.” With its blend of Federal and Colonial Revival architecture, the house features beautifully preserved woodwork, cabinetry, and period details that offer a window into the city's 19th-century life. Since 1978, it has been cared for by the Nashua Historical Society and remains a centerpiece of local heritage.
Guided tours of the Abbot-Spalding House are $10 for non-members and free for NHS members, active military, and veterans.
Bonus Experience at the Speare Museum:
Next door, step inside the Florence H. Speare Memorial Museum, where history continues with engaging exhibits and a compelling film. At 1:00 PM and again at 2:00 PM, enjoy a screening of At Home and Abroad: Nashua and World War II, a powerful one-hour documentary highlighting the city's contributions during a pivotal era in world history. Admission is free, and the museum is fully accessible, featuring a ramp from the parking lot and an elevator to all exhibit levels.
Free parking is available in the Nashua Historical Society’s lot or along Abbott Street.
This is your chance to walk through the rooms where Nashua’s story began, reflect on its enduring legacy, and connect with the people and events that helped shape the city we know today. Don’t miss an afternoon of discovery, remembrance, and local pride!
