Winter is not ready to release its grip on New Hampshire. But you can treat yourself to a taste of spring by attending the Nashua Garden Club’s March presentation to hear about some beautiful orchids. This program, “Medellin Colombia, The Orchid Trifecta”, is open to the public free of charge and will begin promptly at 7:00 PM on Wednesday March 4th at the First Baptist Church,121 Manchester Street, Nashua NH. This month’s guest speaker, Mr. Chuck Andersen, owner of Mason Hollow Nursery, is a renown orchid collector and winner of multiple achievement and best in show awards. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 6:45 PM in order to be seated and settled prior to the start of the program.

Mr. Andersen has been interested in plants since grade school. He later attended and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with dual degrees in Botany and Plant Science. Partnering with his wife, Sue, the duo opened Mason Hollow Nursery in Mason, New Hampshire in 2001.This magnificent garden center specializes in Hostas, Woodland Plants and Shrubs, select Conifers and Japanese Maples. We are lucky that they also have a passion for orchids and have developed one of the largest Orchid Collections in the Northeast specializing in varieties from the cooler cloud forests in the tropics. The Andersens are recipients of multiple awards including the 2026 Todd Drumney Award for Best Miniature Orchid, the New Hampshire Orchid Society 2024 Diamond Award and various best in show awards.

Attendees to this session will hear about Mr. Andersen’s visit to Colombia where he attended the Scientific Conference of Andean Orchids and Medellin Orchid Show. His presentation will focus on 3 main areas: the grandeur of the Medellin Orchid Show, highlights of private gardens and orchid nurseries which he visited and his experience trekking into the high elevations of the cloud forests with local botanists to document new or rediscovered species.

All are welcome and requested to arrive by 6:45 for this 7:00 PM session. There will be time afterwards for Q&A and light refreshments. A members-only business meeting will follow this session.
