No matter the size of your garden, it’s likely to include one or many containers – outdoors, indoors, on your deck or on your stoop. You are invited to gather a few new gardening and design tips to enhance your ‘gardens in a pot’ by attending the Nashua Garden Club’s April program, “Container Gardening”. This session is open to the public free of charge and will begin promptly at 7:00 PM on Wednesday April 1st at the First Baptist Church,121 Manchester Street, Nashua NH.
Guest speakers will be Joan Bonnette, Master Gardener, Tree Steward and Vice President of the Nashua Garden Club and Tina Rufo, Master Gardener, President of the New England Hosta Society and President of the Nashua Garden Club. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 6:45 PM in order to be seated and settled prior to the start of the program.
Ms. Bonnette will pull from her 30-plus years of gardening experience and horticultural training. She will cover major considerations, from design principles, to how to plant and care for the specimens included in the containers. Ignite your imagination with fresh ideas for containers themselves, learn about types of plants well suited to these gardens and hear about novel locations where they can be placed around your home and garden.
Along with this information, attendees will be treated to a demonstration of how to construct these ‘gardens in a pot’ by Ms. Rufo. Her passion for gardening began ‘many’ years ago in her Grandmother’s garden and has grown nonstop over the years. With formal training and experience, her interest blossomed into a full time avocation. Tina now serves as an officer of various garden clubs and volunteers at numerous public and charitable gardens. On this evening, she will apply design and planting principles and while she creates a container or two right before your eyes.
All are welcome and requested to arrive by 6:45 for this 7:00 PM session. Following the presentation, there will be time for Q&A and light refreshments. A members-only business meeting will follow.
