The Nashua International Sculpture Symposium is an annual community event by the Nashua Sculpture Project, designed to elevate the awareness and appreciation of public art in Nashua. Through its unique format, the Symposium allows Nashua residents and visitors the dynamic opportunity to engage directly with guest sculptors from around the world and experience ‘art in the making’. Nashua has the distinction of being the only city in the U.S. which hosts an annual international sculpture symposium. This collaborative, three-week public event celebrates cultural exchange and diversity through creation and sharing. Curiosity and understanding are nurtured via the day-to-day interactions with our visiting artists. 
Since 2008, guest artists from around the world have created 56 different sculptures which are permanently installed throughout the city. These large, stone or metal outdoor sculptures stand in a variety of public spaces including downtown Nashua, schools, parks, neighborhoods, walking trails, and riverfront paths. They incorporate Art as Everyday Living, enhancing the quality of life for New Hampshire citizens daily, and actively contribute to Nashua’s identity as a vibrant arts community. 
Exploring this year’s theme “Gathering Momentum”, our sculptors are Pauline Berger, Germany; Margot Lasalle, France; Anna Multone, Italy; and Sean Williams, US. After working for three weeks in the public eye, these artists will gift their sculptures to the Nashua Sculpture Project to become part of its permanent collection. These new pieces will be celebrated at the Closing event on June 6, 2026. To better inform this year’s theme, the Symposium is intentionally highlighting community connections with children and youth, seeking partnership with interested schools and organizations. 
There are many opportunities for individuals and families to get involved in a meaningful way and to become part of this legacy of sculpture in Nashua. Visit the Picker Artists’ Studios and attend both the Opening Celebration on May 14 at 5:30 PM and the Closing Celebration on June 6 at 1:00 PM, visit the sculptors as they work from May 18 to June 3. Sign up to bring a meal on the website, or volunteer for a more personalized experience. As a non-profit organization, the Nashua Sculpture Project and the Nashua International Sculpture Symposium also seeks like-minded sponsors and donors who want to invest in the cultural, social, and economic value to our community enlivened through public art.

It’s spring in New Hampshire and members of the Nashua Garden Club have been at work preparing for the Club’s annual Spring Plant Sale. Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 16th to get great plants at great prices. This is the perfect opportunity to stock your garden with healthy, locally grown plants at below market prices. Activities will begin promptly at 8 AM and will run until noon on the magnificent grounds of the Nashua Historical Society, 5 Abbott Street Nashua NH. This event will be held rain or shine. Please note that only cash and checks will be accepted (no credit cards).
Club members have been working for months planning, planting, propagating, potting-up and organizing for this Sale. Nashua area gardeners look forward to this annual occasion, and the most experienced buyers know to arrive early for the best selection of annuals, perennials, shrubs, grasses, houseplants, vegetables, and herbs. The club’s friendly, knowledgeable gardeners, including several Master Gardeners, will be on hand to answer any questions and to help you pick the best plants for your spaces. Come to check out the wide range variety plant materials. 
And…there is more to do during your visit! Shoppers can try their luck at the always popular ‘Gift Basket Raffle’ to win one (or more) of a wide variety of creative, themed gift baskets. Bargain hunters will be excited to visit the ‘Jean’s Gems’ garden-themed tag sale to look through a fun selection of pots, lawn ornaments, books and other gardening and yard related tools and supplies. The Nashua Historical Society, a valued partner of the Nashua Garden Club, will add to the day of fun by hosting a Scavenger Hunt. The Hunt will be held at the Florence Speare Museum, from 8 AM to 3 PM. Participation is free and promised to be fun for all ages. 
This Plant Sale is the only fundraiser held by the Nashua Garden Club. Proceeds support the Club’s operating budget and fund a number of community educational and give-back projects including monthly expert speakers’ programs to which the Nashua community is invited free of charge, maintenance of Greeley Park’s Sensory Garden and annual distribution of holiday donations to various local charitable and educational organizations.

<h4>A Powerful REV250 Live Performance of the Words That Helped Shape a Nation</h4>
Nashua Historical Society invites the public to experience a unique and thought-provoking live performance event this June as part of the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary.
On Thursday, June 4, the Society will host two performances of Declaring Independence: Then &amp; Now at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Florence H. Speare Memorial Museum, 5 Abbott Street, Nashua, NH. This free public program brings the dramatic story of the Declaration of Independence to life through historic words, modern reflections, and the voices of the people who lived through extraordinary times.
In January 1776, New Hampshire became the first colony to adopt its own constitution — a bold act that helped pave the way for the Declaration of Independence just months later. Declaring Independence: Then &amp; Now explores that revolutionary moment through a compelling blend of primary source material, costumed readers, and contemporary commentary, revealing how citizens in New Hampshire and Massachusetts communities debated the risks, hopes, and meaning of independence.
Presented by actors in period dress, the performance combines historical storytelling with an annotated reading of the Declaration itself, inviting audiences to consider both the courage of 1776 and the enduring relevance of the nation’s founding ideals today.
The Nashua performances are part of a larger series of 15 community presentations taking place across the Freedom’s Way National Heritage Area during the spring and summer of 2026 in honor of the REV250 commemoration. “We are proud to bring this important program to Nashua,” says Paula Lochhead, the committee chairperson. “New Hampshire played a critical role in the movement toward independence, and this performance offers audiences a meaningful opportunity to connect with that history in a vivid and personal way.”
