Calling all YMCA Camp Sargent Alumni

YMCA CAMP SARGENT CELEBRATING ITS 90TH YEAR IN 2014

CALLING ALL ALUMNI!

As part of its 90th year celebration, the YMCA of Greater Nashua’s Day Camp Sargent is planning several alumni events, including a huge family carnival at the camp on Saturday, July 26 from 11am-2pm. The Camp is looking to connect with as many former campers and staff as possible and invite them back to camp for this event. Camp Sargent is also forming a new alumni committee to help with camp special events.

The newly launched campsargent.org website includes an “Alumni Sign-up” form for former campers and camp staff to share their current contact information. “We’re hoping to reconnect with a lot of alumni and staff who may have lost touch,” said Randy Menken, Camp Sargent director. “We want to invite everyone back to experience camp and rekindle their camp friendships. On the website we have a spot for people to share camp memories and camp photos, also.”

The new website showcases the features of summer camp on Lake Naticook in Merrimack. Additionally, this year the Y also has begun online registration (accessible through the website); making camp registration even easier. Just minutes from the Merrimack and Nashua Y, Camp Sargent sits on 22 beautiful acres on the shore of Lake Naticook. Since 1924, Camp Sargent has offered quality day camping from one to eleven weeks for boys and girls 5-16 years old.

For youth in grades 1 through 6, Camp Sargent offers an array of traditional camp activities such as boating, swim, farm animals and agriculture, archery, sports, nature, arts & crafts and much more. Campers also get a chance to develop valuable life skills at Camp Sargent. Through our Character Development program, campers learn about being caring, responsible, respectful and honest to fellow campers and to the world around them.

For children age 5 through kindergarten, Lil' Voyagers Camp is targeted to their first time experiencing camp. Children will participate in most activities their older counterparts do. All activities are age appropriate and modified for the campers. Set in an environment centered on discovery and creativity, children will enjoy hands-on learning experiences which will encourage campers to be independent as well as develop self-esteem. Half day option available for this age group.

For campers looking for special interest camps, Camp Sargent offers these 9 options for summer 2014: Farm Camp; Archery Camp; CSI Camp ; Fort Building Camp ; Playacting Camp ; Huck Finn Camp; Set Design Camp; Not Just Arts Camp (exploring various non-traditional art mediums);  and the new Survivor Camp.

Local transportation is available from the Nashua and Merrimack YMCAs; Alvirne High School in Hudson; and Fairgrounds Elementary School in Nashua.
