Why are you seeking elective office?
I spent 10 month sitting in on the Legislative hearings in Concord. What I learned was very disturbing. The direction the state was headed was not good for New Hampshire. I spoke to the voters in Ward 7 and they agreed with me and encouraged me to run for office.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Education is one of the most pressing kitchen table issues families have brought to my attention. Since the virus started it has become a significant concern. School funding, educational excellence and choice are issues that have been in play for years and not resolved. I will focus on these issues and work hard to bring them to a close. I will begin by separating the problems from the politics. Then examine what factors have prevented these problems from being solved in the past. These factors will allow the legislature to proceed with a better chance of solving the issues that have plagued our educational system for years. Taxes and government over reach are concerns as well.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
The 3 Republicans running in Ward 7 are aligned with the voters on the key issues and well prepared to fill the 3 Representative positions in Ward 7. The voters in Ward 7 are looking for representation and their voices to be heard in Concord. I will represent them and bring their voices to Concord.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
Based on discussions with the voters they do not feel they are represented or have a voice in Concord. My responsibility is to the voters and I take my marching orders from the people who elected me to represent them. I intend to keep an open dialog with the voters in Ward 7 during my time in office. I will not align with party politics or the Washington ideology.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
I will vote against all income and sales taxes. I take the oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution very seriously. I will never vote yes or support any legislation that violates our State or US Constitutional rights. I'm a strong advocate of limited government, spending control and fiscal accountability. Tightly controlled spending prevents the need for more taxes.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I served 2 tours in Vietnam before I was 21 years old. I owned a logging business and a product development machine shop. I retired as a Manager from a high tech electronics business after 35 years. During my 35 years I worked as a Manager in Manufacturing, Development, Operations, Finance and Procurement. I negotiated domestic and international material contracts, managed domestic and international manufacturing facilities. I can quickly tell the difference between an inconvenience, a problem or a crisis. My management style is, crisis avoidance through prevention.
The best advice ever shared with me was …
Love many, trust few and always paddle your own canoe.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I've lived in Nashua for 60 years and in Nashua, Ward 7 for 40 years. I live in the house I grew up in and raised a family. Most everyone I have talked with want to keep the values and traditions that make NH and Nashua a desirable place to live, work and raise a family. As their Representative I will work hard to keep our values and traditions in place ensuring Nashua remain a desirable place to live, work and raise a family.
