Why are you seeking elective office?
Helping people through public service is a true honor.
The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
The financial pressures and stresses faced by individuals and families in New Hampshire are growing, especially now during the public health emergency. I have worked to help relieve the strain felt by property tax payers, through increased state aid to cities and towns to help pay for schools, infrastructure, and services. My work to increase the availability of health care resources will help individuals address the physical and mental stresses they are feeling and expand their opportunities to seek treatment and recovery so that they may work, raise families and be active community members.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have a solid record of working in a bi-partisan manner to pass legislation that creates opportunity for New Hampshire residents. In addition, my broad experience with state budgets gives me the perspective to make hard choices in uncertain economic times.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
I have worked over multiple terms to bring commuter rail to Nashua. I have led efforts to eliminate wait lists for safety net services, and expand our health care workforce and resources, especially in the areas of mental health and substance use disorder treatment.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have successfully represented Nashua's ward 3 over 7 terms in the State House and wards 3,4,6,7,8, and 9 for 1 term in the Senate. I am extremely proud of my record in constituent service. I have been integrally involved in NH's successful bipartisan Medicaid expansion efforts and led the initiative to increase medical provider payments across the board in Medicaid for the first time ever. I have spent equal amounts of time in the majority and the minority in the legislature, so I am able to see others' points of view.
The best advice ever shared with me was …
There is always more than one correct answer to a problem, and it does not have to be mine.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I work hard, and I care deeply about others. New Hampshire has been a wonderful place for me to live, work, and raise a family. I want to help others be as lucky as I have been.
