NASHUA, NH — Police were involved in stopping a city transit bus in Downtown Nashua on Wednesday, searching for a possible armed and dangerous suspect, who turned out not to be the suspect police were looking for.

Around 11:30 a.m., police were “assisting outside agencies” by attempting to locate “a potentially armed and dangerous suspect” who was thought to be in the Gate City, according to Sgt. John Cinelli, the department’s public information officer. A woman on the bus matched the description of the suspect.

“The bus returned to the transit center, and the police department requested all employees and people within the transit center and Nashua City Hall (to) lock their doors and shelter in place,” he said.

Officers from the outside agencies as well as Nashua police, safely identified the woman and found she was not the suspect in the investigation, Cinelli added.

“The suspect in this investigation was later located outside of Nashua and taken into custody,” he said, adding there was no threat to the area.
