ICYMI: Tenant Removed from Main Street Apartment Building Fire
Nashua Fire and Rescue teams battle third floor fire on Main Street. One transported to the hospital; four displaced.
NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire and Rescue teams removed one apartment dweller on Main Street this morning who suffered a cardiac arrest while they were fighting a fire in the apartment building, according to Nashua’s Deputy Fire Chief, Kevin F. Kerrigan. The patient, he noted, was in critical condition before being transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
Firefighters were sent to 371 Main St. at 8:09 a.m. on March 24, 2017, and found smoke and fire coming from the third floor.
“First in crews conducted a quick search locating an unconscious victim in the third floor apartment,” he noted, “(but) the narrow stairway made removing the victim difficult. Additional crews were called and stretched hose lines to extinguish the fast moving fire. The fire was extinguished and held to the apartment of origin.”

According to Daniel Brown of the American Red Cross, four adults were displaced due to the fire.
“Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers have met with the residents and have ensured everyone has a safe place to sleep and has food, clothing and other essentials,” he noted. “Over the next several days, Red Cross client casework volunteers will stay in contact with the family and provide referrals, as they begin their road to recovery.”
