Director of the Academy for Science and Design joins NCSSS Board

Jenn Cava has been selected to join the Board of Directors for the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools’ (NCSSS).
Jennifer Cava, Director of the Academy for Science and Design (ASD) in Nashua, has been selected to join the National Consortium of Secondary STEM Schools’ (NCSSS) Board of Directors.
“NCSSS was very pleased that Jenn Cava was elected by the membership to serve on its Board,” said Todd Mann, executive director of NCSS. “The Board is comprised of leaders in practice and in thought of the nation’s premier STEM schools, and Jenn will fit right in. We look forward to her experience and expertise to help us guide the the work of the Consortium, and in doing so, the direction of STEM education.”

The NCSSS was established in 1988 to provide a forum for specialized secondary schools focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to exchange information and program ideas. Celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2018, the Consortium now includes more than 100 member schools (high schools), many ‘ranked’ as the best in the country, along with 55 affiliate members (colleges, universities, summer programs, foundations, and corporations) located in 32 states, that share the goals of transforming mathematics, science, and technology education.
Under her leadership since 2009, the Academy for Science and Design has been recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, has received the New Hampshire EDie Award for Excellence, has been featured by US News and World Report as the Number 1 High School in New Hampshire and in the Top 75 National STEM schools.
“This is not only an opportunity for ASD to connect with top STEM schools across the country, but also an opportunity for the State of New Hampshire to contribute to the national conversation about how to engage, nurture, and inspire future leaders in science and technology,” Cava said. “NCSSS is right at the very heart of innovation in STEM education, and I am eager to get to work as a member of their Board.”
