Discarded smoking materials sparked a fire in Nashua early Friday morning.
NASHUA, NH — Discarded smoking materials sparked a house fire on Carlene Drive in Nashua early Friday morning, according to Nashua firefighters.

All the occupants made it out safe, according to Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Kerrigan.
The blaze broke out at about 1 a.m. Firefighters found flames shooting up from the side of the house; they quickly extinguished it, Kerrigan said.

Kerrigan said an occupant smelled smoke and called 911. The blaze started when someone tossed smoking materials in the trash.
“Always use caution and properly dispose of smoking materials into a fire rated container,” Kerrigan said in a statement.
