Dog Dies In Nashua Home Fire
Nashua firefighters attempted to resuscitate the dog after battling a fire on Blossom Street Saturday but were unsuccessful.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire and Rescue teams were called to a home fire on Saturday afternoon and able to quickly knock it down but were unable to save a dog that resided in the home. At just before 2 p.m. on July 13, 2019, fire personnel sent to 53 Blossom St. for a report of smoke coming from a home. The fire was reported by a mail carrier that was working their route, according to Deputy Chief Karl Gerhard of the Nashua Fire Department.
"Crews rapidly entered the home and located heavy fire in the kitchen area in the first floor 'L' portion of the home," he noted. "The fire was extending into the roof of the 'L' and extending towards the main section of the home."
Due to the state of the fire and the hot day, more teams were requested, and the fire was rapidly knocked down. Twenty-seven firefighters worked at the incident, he added. Searchers located a dog but no other residents.
