Donald J. Dyer, Longtime Nashua Public Servant
Services for Don Dyer are Tuesday at Anctil-Rochette & Sons Funeral Home.
Donald J. Dyer, 77, of Nashua, passed away on December 15, 2011 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.
Don was born in Greenfield, MA on August 16, 1934, the son of the late Charles H. and Valentine (Papillon) Dyer. He was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Martin, and his brother, Newell Dyer. The family moved to Leominster, MA in 1938 where Don attended elementary school. After moving to Townsend, MA in 1946, Don graduated from Spaulding Memorial High School in Townsend in 1952 and also graduated from Nichols College in 1954. He was the husband of Diane (Fournier) Dyer whom he married in 1969 and with whom he shared 42 years. They moved to Nashua in 1971 and made their home there since.
He held various positions with Truckstel Mfg., Sprague & Carlton, Merrivale Casket Co. and most recently with Sterilite Corp. of Townsend, MA. Don was a veteran of the United States Army serving much of his tour of duty in Germany.
Don was very involved in public service having served as a selectman and on other town boards in Townsend, MA. He was also a Nashua Ward 5 Alderman, the Aldermanic Liason to the Nashua Planning Board, a Nashua Public Works Commissioner, and a trustee of the Nashua Board of Public Works Pension Fund.
Don was a staunch Republican who remained very active within the party. He was also a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots for many years.

Besides his wife, Don is survived by;
One son; Shawn M. Dyer of Merrimack
One daughter; Carrie Secovich and her husband Mark of Nashua,
Two grandchildren; Dominique and Amelie Secovich
One brother; Charles Dyer and his wife Doris of Northport, FL
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 from 6 PM to 9 PM in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St, Nashua. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring St., Nashua. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Greater Nashua, 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, NH 03064 or the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring St. Nashua, NH 03060.
