Duo Charged in Alleged Forgery, Theft Scheme

Police say Nicole Coutu and Christina Giguere worked together to pass a forged check.

Nicole Coutu, 21, of 34 Canal St., Nashua, and Christina Giguere, 26, of 120 Palm St. Nashua, were arrested Feb. 5 after police say they worked together to steal and pass a forged check at a local bank.

Coutu was charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another to forgery, a class B felony; and receiving stolen property, a class A misdemeanor.

Giguere is charged with forgery, a class B felony.

According to a police narrative:

On February 5 a local bank reported Giguere had been involved in the forgery of a check. It is alleged Giguere acted in concert with Coutu in the theft and subsequent fraudulent completion of a personal check taken from an adult female who is known to Coutu. Coutu reportedly provided Giguere with transportation to the bank.

The personal check was made payable to Giguere. Additionally, it was reported Coutu was responsible for the theft of property, to include a credit card, from an adult male who is known to her. This property was later recovered by police. Members of the Criminal Investigation Division furthered the investigation. As a result of the investigation, Coutu and Giguere were charged with the above listed offenses.

A class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. A class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to a year in jail, exclusive of fines. Coutu was released on $2,500 cash or surety bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court on February 20, 2013.

Giguere is being held at the Nashua Police Department on $2,500 cash or surety bail pending her arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court on February 6, 2013.
