Employee Charged with Taking Merchandise from Clothing Store

Richard Karanja faces felony theft charges.

Richard Karanja, 19, of 8 Brightside Drive, Hudson, was arrested Nov. 26 on a warrant charging him with theft of merchandise from the clothing store where he was employed.

He is formally charged with criminal liability for the conduct of another to theft, a class A felony.

Police said the value of the merchandise was in excess of $1,500, elevating the crime to a felony.

A Class A Felony is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment, exclusive of fines.
Karanja’s bail was set at $2,500 cash or surety pending his arraignment at the 9th
Circuit-District Division-Nashua Court.
