Woody Guthrie was born on July 14, 1912 in Okemah, OK. By the time of his death from Huntington's Disease in 1967 his life and work had gained world-wide recognition and acclaim. The year 2012 is being observed in many parts of the country as the Woody Guthrie Centennial. The Guthrie Centennial will be celebrated in Nashua, NH with "A Tribute to the Life and Spirit of Woody Guthrie."
Rev. Steve Edington will supply narrative on the life and work of Woody Guthrie; he will also point to some of the spiritual dimensions of Woody's life and work as well. Supporting Steve's narrative in song and music are vocalists Dan Murphy, Kathy Grossman, and Harry Purkhiser accompanied by other instrumentalists. Portions of this program have been previously performed at two of the annual Jack Kerouac festivals sponsored by Lowell Celebrates Kerouac in Lowell, MA.

"The trio of musicians were at Lowell as I recall, and were WONDERFUL ... really captured that old time soulfulness, which you will find in Okemah when you come there this summer." --David Amram
