Everett Turnpike Police Chase: Suspect in Minivan Hits Stop Sticks, Arrested

The Massachusetts driver was taken into custody Friday.

A Massachusetts man was arrested Friday after police said he tried to flee officers in a minivan on the Everett Turnpike.

Michael Dewhurst, 39, of Lynnfield, was charged with reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer, and resisting arrest.

State Police said at about 11 p.m., they were notified that Massachusetts officers were chasing Dewhurst heading into New Hampshire. Officers deployed stop sticks near Exit 11 in Merrimack; Dewhurst hit them and his vehicle came to a stop, police said.

He was driving a 1995 GMC minivan, police said.

Dewhurst was held on $5,000 bail pending an arraignment.
