NASHUA, NH — Without community leaders, Nashua wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

What does this community leader do?

As the executive director of the Nashua Adult Learning Center, Carol focuses on the city of Nashua and surrounding towns, working with immigrants, refugees, and displaced people from around the world to bring ESL, job-related skills, and, very importantly, childcare and early learning development to low and medium income Nashua residents. As a powerful leader in the community, Carol works very closely with the school district, other non-profits, and community groups to broaden the reach of the Nashua ALC to expand skills and really make a huge difference to thousands of students and families each year.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

1) Managing over 125 employees 2) two locations, Elm Street and Clearway High School (four-year school for kids who don't do well in traditional HS 3) Leader in the community via Chamber of Commerce, United Way, and Nashua School District.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

The ALC's tremendous impact on the community and lives that have been changed. Literally, thousands of students do the ESL program yearly, the number of students that move on to Nashua Community College each year from ALC programs, Hi-Set graduates (formerly called GED grads), all of this can be traced back to Carol Baldwin and her staff at the Nashua Adult Learning Center.
