Fire At East Hollis St. Variety ‘Appears To Be Electrical,’ Nashua Fire Marshal Says

Firefighters were sent to 131 East Hollis St. on Thursday morning for a fire in the basement of the store, which was contained rapidly.

NASHUA, NH — Firefighters in Nashua extinguished a fire at a local store on Thursday morning.

Just after 5:45 a.m., dispatch began receiving reports of smoke coming from the variety store at the intersection of East Hollis and Chase streets. The first arriving firefighters reported “visible smoke” coming from East Hollis St. Variety, according to Deputy Chief Kevin Kerrigan.

“Firefighters quickly gained access to the store and deployed two handlines to attack a fire located in the building’s basement,” he said. “Crews conducted a thorough search of the premises to confirm that no occupants were inside. The fire was brought under control rapidly, preventing further damage to the structure.”
