Reaching out for prayers and support through Tim's battle with stage IV Melanoma. Please help support him and his family during his fight.
Next month it'll be one year since our lives were turned upside down. In April of 2013 Tim went in for surgery to fuse vertebrates in his neck, during this surgery a tumor that was believed to be a cyst was removed. On May 8th, Tim's birthday, we were told the tumor was melanoma. Unlike most melanoma that appears on the skin, his was on the inside. Immediately Tim was sent for a pet scan and scheduled for surgery. The scan results showed no other cancer but the surgeons were unable to get a clear margin on his head and he was referred to Beth Isreal in Boston. Eight surgeries later Tim's back muscle was removed and attached to his skull along with the skin from his thigh. The doctors were hopeful that all the melanoma was removed. As the plastic surgeon was performing this procedure he noticed something abnormal and had a sample sent out for further studies. Again the results showed the cancer was still there, Tim was sent for another scan and this time it showed the melanoma was littered throughout his body. Now it has reached his bones, chest, hips, back, and his liver. Tim has just celebrated his 37th birthday and is currently enrolled in a trial for forty nine weeks and the treatment will prolong his life. old, married, and has two beautiful children.
