Fugitive Bagged While Checking out a Library Book in Nashua

Steven Palmer was wanted on a federal arrest warrant out of Vermont.

Earlier this week, the New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force offered media outlets and other partners information about the latest Fugitive of the Week, Steven Palmer, who was being sought on an outstanding federal arrest warrant issued for violations of supervised released in that state.

Palmer was convicted and sentenced for mail fraud. He was last suspected of being homeless in Manchester.

Two days later, before the publication of the fugitive notice, Palmer was picked up in Nashua, according to a statement by Deputy Marshal Jeffrey White.

White noted that after sending out the information, one of the partner organizations contacted marshals with information that Palmer might be in Nashua. Marshals came to the city to speak with law enforcement, reach out to homeless shelters, and hang posters in public locations. By chance, while dropping off a poster at the public library, a marshal saw Palmer walking toward the library counter to check out a book.

Palmer was arrested and brought to the U.S. District Court in Concord for a court appearance and then, detained in the Strafford County Jail in Dover .
