How exactly is our press any different than the Russian media?

A former writer for ThinkProgress, the writing arm of the Center for American Progress, a Progressive think tank, just published a blog comparing the Washington media to Russian Times. Zaid Jilani wrote that ThinkProgress writers were frequently subjected to harsh rebukes from the Obama Administration when they wrote things that painted the Obama Administration in an unfavorable light. Jilani was rebuked for writing an article that was critical of President Obama's Afghanistan policy.

This is disturbing. This is not the first time we have read about the Obama Administration attempting to intimidate the press. There are several such scandals still being investigated. Does the Obama Administration support freedom of the press? Or, do they see the press as a propaganda arm of the Administration that needs to be punished when it strays from the party line?

The Center for American Progress has close ties to the Obama Administration. One of the aspects of the IRS scandal that is getting insufficient coverage amidst the noise about personalities is that the IRS may have shared confidential taxpayer information with the CFAP and other friendly organizations in an effort to intimidate their mutual enemies. Why isn't this scandal getting more coverage? You guessed it. The Obama press attack team is going after those that would dare to report on it and they are punishing would be whistle-blowers. People in the Obama Administration do not seem to have any problem using government power to intimidate citizens. Are we free?

It is beginning to look like the Democratic Party media strategy is to exploit its friends for favorable coverage - punishing them when they stray. They use the NSA to spy on objective journalists at outlets such as CBS, The New York Times, The Associated Press, and Fox News.  At the same time, they use their paid surrogates to attack the credibility of anyone else that offers narratives that make the Administration look bad. Finally, if that strategy fails, they call people racist or homophobic, or any other slur that can turn the public against them, thus discrediting their ideas. This is precisely what happens in Communist regimes. Are we any different than Russia? Not under Obama.

We also learned last week that the government is employing paid trolls to wreak hovoc on internet sites. We also know thanks to Edward Snowden and other whistle-blowers, that practically all of our communications are being spied on in one form or another.

The current government is all about control. They want to control what we think, what we feel, what we say, and what we write. This is the essence of tyranny. The Obama Administration and their Progressive counterparts apparently believe we need to be controlled. The best way to do that is to control the free press. They seem to have an effective strategy.

This is a plea to anyone working inside the Obama Administration or as a surrogate in another capacity. You are working in a cult-like environment. Apply reason and be courageous. Take the example from Zaid Jilani. Put your country and our freedom first and expose this tyranny.
