Keeping it Local

As the surburban landscape of our cities and towns morph into each other it is hard to distinguish Macon, Georgia from Yuma, Arizona from Peoria, Illinois. Big box stores and chain restaurants change the landscape of these places so much that as you travel across the US it is hard to get the flavor of a location. Local restaurants are competing against Olive Gardens and Applebees. Friendly pharmacies are being squeezed out by numerous CVSs and Rite Aids. With the exception of a few, most of our local hardware stores have been replaced with the mighty Home Depot.

It is getting more difficult to find the things that are unique to our local communities. Access Nashua is one way to showcase the vibrant people, projects, and organizations that are thriving right here in Southern NH. In the new Internet age niche could be the new normal.  Niche markets can thrive with less of the market share than in the past. Access Nashua's niches is a celebration of our local community and the people who live here; their stories, their projects, and all the good they do right here in Nashua.

Access Nashua gives its residents an outlet to produce quality content that is  specifically targeted to the people of this region. There are many talented and passionate people already involved with Access Nashua who are giving their time to build this great community resource. The content at Access Nashua covers a wide variety of topics; from politics, to religion, to area non-profits and local aritisans.

The Friends of Access group was formed with the main goal of spreading the word about its existence. Not only to let the community know that there is locally driven content available for viewership, but also to let people know that it is a resource available to them to cover a topic or subject that isn't being covered in the media that they think should be.

The refrain of the 21st century has been Think Globally, Act Locally. Living locally to me means trying to make a concious effort to solicit local business. This means spending our dollars at local restaurants, stores, and on services. But it also means seeking out content that is produced locally geared toward the people who live in Nashua and southern New Hampshire. In doing so we are giving a local voice to the citizens in our community.
