Why are you seeking elective office?

Friends and neighbors, NH is at a crossroads. We have been hit hard economically by Covid-19 and who you send to Concord now will decide what NH will become in response to this challenge. I pledge to help bring NH back bigger and better than ever without sacrificing what has made us a truly special place.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Creating the proper legal and regulatory environment in NH to permit a full economic recovery without the imposition of confiscatory income tax or sales tax.

The best social program is a good job. It is the basis for an independent and fulfilling life of self-reliance and self-esteem. Good jobs are created by the small businesses owned by our friends and neighbors. They are the backbone of the middle class, generating wealth and creating a prosperous community where all benefit. Our focus must be on helping them recover and thrive so they can create the good jobs our family and neighbors need.

I intend to work with all the other elected Representatives in Concord to make sure that those conditions are created so that my constituents in Ward 6 can Live Free and Thrive.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I believe in people, not government.

I believe that people don't need the government to be their parent and treat them like children, telling you what to do and treating your wages like it is an allowance they permit you to keep. I understand that the proper role of government is to be a servant to the needs of the people and not their master.

I view all legislation through the lens of the NH Constitution. If the proposed legislation improves the common good and is consistent with the restrictions on government that we the people imposed with our Constitution, I will support it.

If the legislation does not improve the public good or is not consistent with our Constitution, I will oppose it.

If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)

There are two incumbents I am running against. I know them and would be happy to have them as neighbors, but they are wrong on the public policy they have tried to impose on you.

As examples: Both incumbents voted to increase State spending by 13%! (HB1); Both incumbents voted for a state income tax! (HB 712); and Both incumbents voted to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens (HB397).

One of the incumbents actually co-sponsored a bill to (HB1492-FN) introduce a sales tax in NH! That tax would devastate the business model of retail businesses in southern NH, particularly our Nashua businesses. Businesses would close and the burden of city taxes would be shifted even more to the Nashua homeowners.

None of these are good for you or NH. I will oppose all of these if brought up again for a vote.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform

My campaign positions are as follows:

Full economic recovery: Small, locally-owned businesses are the backbone of our middle class. Let’s support them so we can come back bigger and better than ever.

No Income Tax, No Sales Tax: You need to recover economically too. I will fight to limit the amount that government can take from you.

Better Educational Outcomes: Improve public education outcomes by returning focus to the basics. Expand the business-funded scholarship programs to provide everyone a choice.

Better healthcare, lower costs: NH healthcare costs are far too high. We need legislative and regulatory reform to lower your healthcare costs and to increase healthcare accessibility for all.

Lower Energy Costs: Our energy costs are far higher than the national average and it hurts you, our businesses, and the poor. I will fight to lower those costs.

Back The “Blue”: I am a law and order candidate and I support our police. NH is a wonderful, safe place and I will fight to keep it that way.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been there (Concord) and successfully done that (served as your legislator). I carried with me to Concord, the sentiment of Fredrick Douglass (paraphrased): I will work with anyone to do good and no one to do bad. As evidence of my success in carrying out that philosophy, I
provide my bi-partisan legislative accomplishments:

Passed – With bipartisan support, legislation that rolled back unneeded and expensive medical regulations, making MRI and ultrasound medical procedures more available and more affordable (HB334).

Passed – Co-Authored a bi-partisan amendment to HB1571, which creates a drug and alcohol treatment program for our 30,000 NH registered nurses – AT NO COST TO THE TAXPAYER.

Passed – With bipartisan support, a bill lowering high interest rates being charged to NH Homeowners on late property tax payments from 12% to 8% (HB1673).

The best advice ever shared with me was …

"Always do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may." I have sometimes payed a personal price, but I never had any trouble sleeping at night.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I love America and I love NH. Teresa and I moved here 34 years ago from MA and we have never regretted that decision. Our children are native-born Granite-staters, our gift to them. Unlike too many "transplants", we fully embraced the culture and ethos of NH and we have worked to keep NH the wonderful, special place it is.

I was humbled to be elected by my friends and neighbors in 2016 and I kept every promise I made. Understand who I am and what I believe, because what I say in public I will do up in Concord behind closed doors when your future is being discussed.

No one agrees with anyone else 100% of the time, but if you agree with me on most of the important issues, please give me your vote.

God bless you, NH, and the United States of America.
