Lawrence Crack Dealer Swept Up By Granite Shield Unit: Report

A homeless alleged drug dealer, Nashua woman charged with prostitution, and Pittsfield habitual offender also arrested yesterday in Nashua.

NASHUA, NH — Another Granite Shield Operation by Nashua Police led to charges against five people in the Gate City yesterday, according to police. Arrested on April 4, 2018, were Jose Mendez, 32, upper left, of Monmouth Street in Lawrence, MA, on a single felony count of acts prohibited, sale of a controlled drug-crack cocaine-second offense; Lewis Clark, 40, upper middle, unknown address, for felony acts prohibited, sale of a controlled drug-cocaine-second offense; and Andrew Sanders, 33, lower left, of Cambridge Road in Nashua, on two felony counts of acts prohibited, possession on a controlled drug-methamphetamine, heroin. Also caught up in the sweep were Natasha Davis, 30, upper right, of Amory Street in Nashua, for prostitution and Rigoberto Gaud, 24, lower middle, of River Road in Pittsfield, for felony habitual offender.

According to Lt. Brian Kenney of the Nashua Police Department, the team’s Narcotics Intelligence Division, Problem Oriented Policing Unit and Traffic Unit were all involved in the operation.

“These arrests came at the conclusion of extensive investigations into the distribution of illegal drugs in Nashua and were made possible through funding provided by the Granite Shield program,” he noted.

Mendez was held on $50,000 cash bail and is expected to be arraigned today. Clark was held on $30,000 cash bail and is also expected to be arraigned today. Both will face enhanced penalties due to prior drug convictions, Kenney stated.

Sanders was released on $750 cash bail and has a court date on April 26, while Gaud was released on $450 cash bail and has a court date the same day. Davis was released on personal recognizance bail and is due in court on April 26, as well.
