Lend a Hand, Be a FAN

After a looong process Friends of Access Nashua (FAN) is an official, approved, certified 501 (c) (3) charity.Give us your money, it's deductible, Honey.
What do we do?  We raise funds to provide equipment and support for Access Nashua channel 96.  This is your Nashua based public access TV station.  FAN receives requests from station management to buy equipment not covered by the station's budget.  We are completely independent and evaluate each funding request on its merits.  If we grant funds we require regular reports on the value and utility of each item.
We raise funds through a program called Art Show, Art Sales (more on this in a later blog) direct appeals to FAN members and the public and other fundraisers.
This is an exciting time to be involved with FAN and Access Nashua.  Local programming is expanding every month.  Any Nashua resident with an idea for a program is welcomed to contact the station and work with the professional staff to make their vision a reality.  The broadcast equipment is first rate.  The staff all have professional broadcasting experience.  You name the subject and there is probably something like it on air or in development.  Let your imagination run wild!
The 501 (c) (3) process was lengthy and frustrating.  It took almost a year.  We were caught up in the delays resulting from the IRS investigation of irregularities at their charity certification division.  Peter Clark, a Special Assistant in Senator Shaheen's office, was instrumental in shepherding our application through the red tape and staying in constant contact with us and the IRS.  Peter, thanks so much.  We couldn't have done it without you, buddy.
Want to help?  Look at the Access Nashua website http://accessnashua.org/schedule.php.  Call us at the station (603-589-3141).  Write us at FAN, c/o Access Nashua, 11 Riverside St. Nashua 03062.  Visit us at the studio.  You won't regret it.
