LPNH Again Advocates Violence Against Democrats On Twitter/X; Message Roundly Condemned

Part of the post read, "Do you have a plan to kill millions of Democrats? Because this could work…"

Like Norma Desmond getting ready for her close up, New Hampshire’s once official Libertarian Party is desperately trying to stay relevant, this time by again advocating the murder of Democrats.

The LPNH, which is no longer the official New Hampshire Libertarian political party and is chaired by failed senate candidate Jeremy Kauffman, took to Twitter/X this week to suggest like-minded people form a plan to engage in mass slaughter.

“If you’re not voting, then we’re going to need to make plans to kill a lot of people Do you have a plan to kill millions of Democrats? Because this could work…” the LPNH account wrote.

This post comes weeks after the LPNH got attention for another violent Twitter/X comment.

“We openly support the assassination of basically every elected Democrat in New Hampshire. But if you don’t have the balls to do that then you should probably vote GOP,” the LPNH account posted in September.

Mike Garrity, spokesman for Attorney General John Formella, didn’t return requests for comment about the latest post, but about a previous LPNH Twitter/X threat said: “We can confirm that the New Hampshire Department of Justice is aware of the social media posts. We would not be in a position to comment further at this time.”

House Democratic Leader Alexis Simpson (D-Exeter) said it’s time for Twitter/X to do something about the LPNH.

“Enough is enough. Week after week, the LPNH account posts rhetoric on X intended to encourage violence against Democrats. I have reported these posts to the appropriate law enforcement. X needs to enforce its rules and permanently ban the LPNH account. I am calling on House Majority Leader Jason Osborne to publicly condemn these posts and make clear that threats of political violence are unacceptable,” Simpson said in a statement.

Given that Twitter/X’s owner, Elon Musk, frequently engages in the type of racist, anti-semitic commentary that helped get the LPNH booted from the national party, it is unlikely the billionaire social media owner will intervene on Simpson’s side.

But the LPNH’s social media trolling for attention antics highlight the fact the group has no standing with other New Hampshire Libertarians. The state’s official Libertarian party, the Granite State Libertarian Party, has condemned LPNH’s obnoxious and dangerous posts.

“This kind of behavior is why we formed the Granite State Libertarian Party,” said GSLP Chair Rachel Danner. “LPNH has consistently misrepresented Libertarian values in the state of New Hampshire, and our goal as an organization is to encompass those true core values and focus on achieving liberty in our lifetime through the means of peaceful participation, elections, advocacy and engagement.”

Gov. Kelly Ayotte als condemned threats of violence made by the disaffiliated “Libertarian Party of New Hampshire” on X and called for the account’s suspension:

“Violent rhetoric is completely unacceptable and has no place in our civil discourse. These posts plainly violate X’s own rules on violent content, and I’m calling on X to remove them and suspend the account immediately.”

In a letter to Michael O’Herlihy, Head of Safety at X Corporation, Ayotte called on X to remove the violent posts and suspend the LPNH account for its repeated violations of the platform’s Violent Content Policy.

Kauffman lost his bid to become the chair of the national LNC this year when he advocated trolling in favor of getting candidates elected to office as part of his unhinged campaign. Kauffman claimed those who oppose him are jealous of his many successes.

“You are so congenitally anti-everything, that when you see someone with something, who can do anything, you melt down. And I am here to cleanse the party of you losers,” Kauffman said during the LNC national convention this spring.

Shortly after he lost the race for LNC chair, the national organization voted to disaffiliate the LPNH. The national committee found the LPNH violated party rules by endorsing President Donald Trump in 2024 over Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver. The national committee also took exception to LPNH’s frequently racist, antisemitic, and homophobic social media behavior.

Kauffman’s long record includes threatening former Executive Councilor Andru Volinsky’s life after Volinsky and others proposed a new school funding plan that included an income tax and a statewide property tax to cover the state’s costs.

In 2024, Kauffman posted a video on social media of two men he said were FBI agents who went to his house after he posted about Vice President Kamala Harris, saying “Anyone who murders Kamala Harris would be an American hero.”
