Man Charged in Strong-Arm Drive-Thru ATM Robbery

Quick action by victim and police led to arrest.

A city man was arrested after strong-arming a woman at a bank drive-thru ATM, police said.

Eric Williams, 36, of 114 Pine St., Nashua, was arrested June 11 at 7:48 a.m., charged with robbery, a class A felony, and resisting arrest or detention, a class A misdemeanor.

On June 11, 2012, patrol officers responded to Citizens Bank, 238 Main Street, for a report of a robbery.

According to police, the victim, a woman, was using the drive-thru ATM when Williams came up to her vehicle and allegedly grabbed her arm and threatened to shoot her if she did not withdraw money and give it to him. Based on her description of the robber, Williams was arrested several minutes later as he left the area on foot. Williams initially ran from police but was quickly apprehended.

Police identified Williams as the robbery suspect. He did not have a gun in his possession at the time of his arrest an did not show a gun during the alleged robbery, police said.

A Class A Felony is punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment in State Prison, exclusive of fines. A Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year, in New Hampshire House of Corrections, exclusive of fines. Williams is being held at the Nashua Police Department pending bail of $25,000. Williams is scheduled to be arraigned on June 12.
