Burglary Suspect Sneaked Out Hospital Window to Escape Police

Travis Laponsee is back in custody, arrested for the second time in less than a week.

A man arrested last week after he was caught red-handed after an alleged burglary was arrested again, after police said he escaped from a hospital where he was being treated while still in custody.

Travis Laponsee, 28, of 7 ½ Pleasant Street, Nashua, is being charged with Escape, a class B felony.

On October 11 at approximately 8:40 p.m., Laponsee was being treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital for an undisclosed medical condition while in official custody with the Hillsborough County Dept. of Corrections. Laponsee attempted to escape from the hospital by climbing through a secured window
and onto the roof. He was quickly apprehended and taken back into custody.

Laponsee was arrested Oct. 9 after he was caught by a resident outside the resident's home with a bag filled with items Laponsee allegedly had just taken during a residential burglary. The resident managed to detain Laponsee long enough to flag down a passing police officer.

A Class B Felony is punishable by up to 7 years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Laponsee was arraigned at the hospital and remained in the custody of the Hillsborough County Dept. of Corrections. His bail was set at $25,000 cash pending a probable cause hearing at the 9th Circuit Nashua District
Division Court on October 24th, 2012.
