Man From Maine Arrested On Rape, Recording Charges In Nashua

NASHUA, NH — A man from Lewiston, Maine, is facing rape charges after police received a report in late November 2023 about an incident in Nashua.

Michael Borges, 44, was arrested on Jan. 25 by police in Lewiston, ME, on three felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and a single count of interception and disclosure of telecommunication or oral communication prohibited, a misdemeanor. According to Sgt. John Cinelli, the public information officer and communications division supervisor for Nashua police, officers took a report from a woman on Nov. 24, 2023, who stated Borges raped her, a report stated.

“The victim and Borges were known to one another before the assault,” he said.

Detectives furthered the case and, through their investigation, filed a warrant for the three felony counts and the communication charge “for recording the incident without the victim’s consent,” Cinelli said.

Borges was arrested in Maine on the warrant and extradited to New Hampshire on Thursday. He was held in preventative detention and arraigned in Nashua District Court Friday.

Borges faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

According to superior court records, Borges was convicted on a forged or false prescription or order charge in May 2012 after an incident in Nashua in September 2010. He was given a year in prison, with the sentence suspended for three years. He was also given credit for 13 days served and fined $434.
