Mass. Man Charged in Domestic for Alleged Choking

Police charged Walter Ward after a woman companion reported she had been choked following an argument.

Walter Ward, 44, of 26 Phillips St., Lowell, Mass., was arrested Dec. 12 on three counts of domestic violence that involved allegedly choking his girlfriend.

The alleged victim entered Nashua Police headquarters just after 7 a.m. yesterday to report the assault. She told police that after an argument Ward allegedly choked her to the point where she was unable to breath. Police said the woman suffered minor injuries.

Ward was located on Main Street and arrested without incident at about 8:12 a.m., charged with Domestic Violence, Second Degree Assault, a class B felony and two counts of Domestic Violence, Simple Assault, Class A Misdemeanor.

A Class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment exclusive of fines. Each Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one in year jail exclusive of fines. Ward is being held at the Nashua Police Department on $10,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment in Nashua District Court.
