The local Daughters of the American Revolution, Matthew Thornton Chapter hosted an ice-cream social with the Children of the American Revolution last month. Guests from local DAR and CAR chapters were in attendance and discussed the Children of the American Revolution’s National Project. Local CAR chapters from across the country are working together to make a donation to the Star Spangled Banner Flag House in Baltimore, MD, in honor of the Star Spangled Banner’s bicentennial this year.

The next meeting of the Matthew Thornton Chapter, DAR will take place June 21st , 10:00 AM at Regent Ellie Freeman’s home. Members are asked to bring a favorite summer dish, salad, desserts, vegetable tray, etc., and a lawn chair. Guest speaker, Julie Crossland will be in attendance to discuss the Home of the Brave Quilt Project.  In addition, the winner of our local DAR scholarship will be announced.
