Meet YMCA of Greater Nashua member, Becki Parkhurst Lynn of Nashua

Becki Lynn, a proud SWIFTER

Becki Parkhurst Lynn loves the Y. She joined the Nashua Y when her youngest child, Jake, was 6 months old to get him into swimming lessons. Jake’s now 6 and he and his sisters Abby, age 5, and Penny, age 3, are involved in all the Y has to offer. “Joining the Y was the best decision I ever made. Within eight months of joining, I lost 80 pounds, and I got to meet really nice women. The Y saved my mental health!” Being home with young children, Becki appreciated the chance to meet other moms who, like her, chose to leave careers and be home with their children. “The Y is such a welcoming community. Joining the Y actually helped me meet women from my own neighborhood! It was great to meet women with children like me who were waiting to be fit,” she said.

Becki is part of the “Swifters,” a group of 70 women who train together for races, including adventure 5Ks and triathlons. SWIFT is the group’s acronym for: Super Women In Fitness Training! The group started at the old Nashua Y on Prospect Street with about 8 women; being a welcoming group, they have engaged with more women to support each other through their wellness journeys.

The women’s friendship extends beyond the walls of the Y. They have supported the “Mom Prom,” raising funds for St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Breast Care Center and they enjoy play dates at each other’s homes and get together for their children’s parties and other life events. The SWIFTERS also joined forces to support the Y’s Annual Support Campaign and are proud to be Chairman Roundtable Members. You’ll see their SWIFTERS banner in both the Nashua and Merrimack branches.
