MicroSociety Academy Charter School Announces New Name — Riverwood Academy — Marking a Decade of Growth

Nashua, NH (August 25th, 2026) - As it prepares to welcome students for its 11th school year, MicroSociety Academy Charter School is proud to announce that it will officially become Riverwood Academy Chartered Public School, effective August 31, 2026. While the school’s name is changing, everything else that families and the community know and value will remain the same. Students will continue learning with the same dedicated faculty and staff, under the same leadership, and in the same classrooms.

The new name better reflects the school’s two building expansion and represents the next chapter in the school’s continued growth. The previous name, MicroSociety Academy, reflected the innovative MicroSociety program that continues to be an important part of the Lower School experience. As the school has evolved, the Upper School has developed its own distinctive Career Exploration Electives program, creating two complementary educational experiences. As a result, the Board determined that a broader school name would better represent the full K–8 program and the school's continued growth. The new name of Riverwood Academy came about through much discussion with stakeholder groups. This new name will feel unique to the school, connects the local environment, and conveys a sense of permanence and identity.

Throughout conversations with stakeholders, the school ensures that one guiding sentiment remains at the center of the discussion: The name is evolving, but the program, people, and overall mission remain the same.

Aside from the new name, there are no changes to the school’s programs or daily operations. Families can expect the same educational experience and caring community that have defined the school over the past decade.

Head of School, Amy Bottomley adds, “As we begin this new chapter, we are deeply grateful to the families who have entrusted us with their children's education, our alumni, our founders, and the faculty, staff, and supporters whose dedication has shaped our school over the past ten years. Their belief in our mission has built the strong foundation we proudly carry into our eleventh school year as Riverwood Academy. While our name is changing, our commitment to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and character to thrive remains stronger than ever.”

Over the coming weeks, families and community members will begin seeing the new name reflected on school signage, the website, social media, and school materials. The transition is expected to be seamless, and no action is required from current families.

Founded in 2015, Riverwood Academy Chartered Public School is entering its 11th school year of serving students in grades PreK-8th. The school is dedicated to immersing students in career pathway exploration and providing exposure to authentic, real-world learning experiences. Students are encouraged to take risks and learn from mistakes in a supportive learning environment, while following a rigorous academic curriculum.
