Nashua's MicroSociety Academy Charter School Receives $5K Lowe's Grant
MicroSociety Academy Charter School (MACS) has received a $5,000 Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant for the MACS Technology Toolbox Project

MicroSociety Academy Charter School (MACS) has received a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for the MACS Technology Toolbox Project- to help the school provide students access to technology by supplying Chromebooks in classrooms.
We are thrilled to announce that Lowe’s has awarded the MicroSociety Academy Charter School funding for the MACS Technology Toolbox Project. Our grant application was based on the goal of providing students with access to much needed technology at the MicroSociety Academy Charter School. We look forward to sharing the MACS Technology Toooklbox with the school community. This grant project will increase our student’s access to technology by almost 50%! There are currently only 23 computers located in one computer lab available to the 150 students at MACS. This grant will bring another 20 Chromebooks into student’s hands.
The mission of the MicroSociety Academy Charter School (MACS) is to actively engage K-8 students in a diverse, challenging learning environment that will prepare them for college, the workforce, and citizenship in a 21st Century global society. Within this environment students will be taught developmentally appropriate, research-based, innovative, technology-infused learning strategies that they will apply daily during the course of creating and operating the agencies and ventures of their own school-based “MicroSociety” -- a microcosm of the real world. We expect that this project will enhance the 21st century learning environment and further solidify each student’s real world experience. Further, faculty would be able to target areas of remediation for those students falling behind, as well as areas where students need more academic challenge, and offer activities through the Chrome Books individualized to each student’s learning pace. MACS’s expect to have the Chromebooks in place for the first day of school in September.
