MicroSociety Academy Charter School (MACS), a tuition-free K-8 public charter school in Nashua, NH is currently accepting applications for the 2020-21 academic year. Students who apply and attend a mandatory Admissions Information Night will be considered for the blind lottery taking place on March 6th. Applications are due no later than 4:00 PM on Monday, March 2nd. Seats are available to any incoming K-8 student for the 2020-21 school year who lives in New Hampshire. The Admissions Information Nights will be conducted at the school located at 591 West Hollis Street, Nashua, NH. Dates and times of Admissions Information Nights are as follows:

  • Tuesday, January 14th at 4:30 PM
  • Thursday, January 23rd at 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday, February 13th at 4:30 PM

Within MACS first five years, the MicroSociety Academy has gradually developed a positive reputation for student achievement and some local notoriety that is directly attributable to MACS unique MicroSociety thematic program. As in past years, the recently released 2018-19 State Assessment Scores, MicroSociety Academy ranks above Nashua School District and New Hampshire State averages in all subjects. Due to the small cohort tested in one grade this past year, there is a slight exception in Math. (NH State Assessment Report 2018-19). Percentage scores in the chart below indicate the amount of students who scored proficient or above on the ELA state assessment.

While encouraging high student achievement expectations, MACS continues to provide the MicroSociety model that teaches 21st century skills, including STEM, with a focus on developing critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration. Students have jobs, create laws, utilize an internal currency, write business proposals, utilize technology applications, and learn about government and economics to prepare them to be productive citizens of the future. MACS has been annually applauded on an international level at the Annual MicroSociety International Conference. These awards have included four competitive George Awards for Student Leadership, two George Awards for Outstanding Teacher, George Award for Outstanding Coordinator, George Award for Outstanding Administrator, and three consecutive years of being awarded as a Four Star School (highest honor). MACS has also been previously selected as a finalist for “Nonprofit of the Year” by both the Nashua Chamber of Commerce (2017-18, 2018-19) and Enterprise Bank (2017-18). Additionally, MACS was named as one of the seven model charter schools worthy of replication in New Hampshire in a $46 million federal grant recently awarded by the US Department of Education to the NH Department of Education.
