MicroSociety Student, Tejas Nyaharkar, Becomes a Published Author

Last Friday, the Houston nonprofit iWRITE Literacy Organization honored 100 authors and illustrators at the “Page to Stage” 12th Annual iWRITE Book Signing Gala. MicroSociety Academy student, Tejas Nyaharkar, was one of the chosen honorees to attend the event and be professionally published in the 12th Edition of the I Write Short Stories By Kids for Kids anthology.

The iWRITE Nonprofit Organization offers students in the 3rd-12th grades the opportunity to submit short stories, plays, poetry, songs, and artwork to an annual publishing contest called, I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids. Tejas Nyaharkar’s short story, Poor Ranch, was a 2021 contest winner and included in the 12th volume of the iWRITE anthology. Tejas attended the iWRITE Book Signing Gala in Houston Texas where he was formally honored and awarded with his very own copy of the published book. Tejas gifted his book to his teacher to be added to the 5th grade classroom library.

The celebration began with a book signing where guests had the opportunity to have their own copy of the anthology signed by the student authors and illustrators.

Following the book signing, the kids made a grand entrance into the main event space where the program commenced. “Through the years, we’ve published over 800 student authors and illustrators from 14 different countries resulting in more than 12,000 anthologies that have gone to print,” said Melissa Williams Murphy, founder of iWRITE. “For the last twelve years we’ve had the privilege of fulfilling our mission to build student confidence through writing and publishing. We are thrilled that this year’s literary theme allowed students to challenge their writing style and think like playwrights and lyricists.”
