Military Retirees Active Again

Military retirees from northern New England took part in the 16th annual Northern New England Military Retiree Activity Day Saturday, Aug. 3, at the New Hampshire Army National Guard base in Concord to get current information and assistance for themselves and their family members.
Sponored by the New Hampshire National Guard in cooperation with Maine and Vermont National Guards, Fort Drum, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and Army Retiree Councils from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, more than 300 retirees including several from Nashua participated in the RAD event.
Col. Frank Musmanno, U.S. Army-Ret., chairman of the Retiree Activity Day, was thrilled with the turnout of retirees and their families. They were greeted by Brig. Gen. Carolyn J. Protzmann, New Hampshire deputy adjutant general, who thanked the retirees for their service to the nation.
Among those present from Nashua were Craig Olson, a former information specialist with the 362d and 11th public affairs detachments, reserve and National Guard, and of course yours truly, Greg Andruskevich, who was paired with Roland Ducharme a Manchester firefighter of Dunbarton, as we have done mny a duty together through the tears.  We are all featured in  photos to go with this blog.
Retirees were able to secure new identification cards and receive legal assistance for wills etc., all at no cost as the state's judge advocate corps, supplied the legal information and paperwork. Health benefits through the Veterans Administration and Tricare were also provided along with other benefits from other military organizations.
Static displays of  military equipment were  also available for viewing including the Army's latest mobile rocket launcher and helicopters. If retirees or soldiers classified in as a Gray area retiree were looking for information, this is the event to attemd Another RAD will be held at Ft. Drum in September and the hope is this RAD event can be held again next year.
