Nashua Caregiver Exploited Elderly Victim For Cash: Police
Deborah Bernard stole more than $1,500 from an elderly victim she was caring for, police said.
NASHUA, NH — A Nashua caregiver was arrested on charges she stole more than $1,500 from her elderly victim, police announced Friday. Deborah Bernard, 51, was charged with financially exploiting an elderly individual, a felony. She was held on $15,000 bail pending an arraignment Friday in Nashua District Court.

Nashua police Lieutenant Craig Allard said officers started an investigation March 30 after they were tipped off by the state Bureau of Elderly Adult Services.

"Bernard was helping the victim with day to day tasks," Allard said in a statement. "Detectives discovered that over the past year Bernard had made multiple unauthorized withdrawals in excess of ($1,500) from the victim’s bank account for her own personal usage while assisting the victim."
