Gate City Felon, Accused Of Assaulting Child, Captured In Maine: Nashua Police

CONCORD, NH — A man from Nashua, accused of fleeing the city to Maine to elude a child assault charge, has been captured, according to police.
Jose Gurley, 25, was arrested by Maine State Police on Friday on a single felony first-degree assault charge.
According to police, officers were sent to a Gate City home on Jan. 19 for a report of a child with a medical emergency. The incident involved a 4-year-old boy who had sustained serious head and facial injuries, Sgt. John Cinelli, the public information officer and communications division supervisor for the Nashua police.

Detectives worked the case, identified Gurley as a suspect, and applied for a warrant against him.
“Detectives learned that Gurley had fled to the state of Maine,” Cinelli said.

A vehicle Gurley was associated with was found near a residence in Cornish, ME, by police. With the help of Maine State Police, a search warrant was requested for the home, and Gurley was found inside and arrested, he said.
“Gurley is currently being held at the York County Jail in Maine, awaiting extradition back to New Hampshire,” Cinelli said.
According to superior court records, Gurley is a felon due to robbery and drug possession convictions out of Nashua in November 2017. On the robbery charge, he received a 12-month sentence suspended with 177 days of credit for time served. For the three acts prohibited charges, Gurley was fined and received mandatory minimums, but they were suspended. He was charged with violation of probation or parole a few months after the convictions and pleaded guilty to a single count in October 2018. He received a four-year sentence with a mandatory minimum of two years, all suspended for five years with 75 days credit for time served. Gurley was accused of violation probation again a couple of months later. He pleaded guilty again in August 2019 and was sent to prison for six months with 20 days credit. His sentence was amended in March 2020.
Gurley was arrested in July 2022 in Manchester on a second-degree assault charge. After several hearings and months, the country attorney dropped the case.
Gurley was arrested again in Manchester on a controlled drug-obtain-buy fake drug charge in September 2022. He pleaded guilty two months later to a 12-month suspended sentence and fines.
