NASHUA, NH — Nashua firefighters had a busy night Friday battling two fires within a few hours of each other. Around 5:30 p.m., Nashua Fire Rescue was sent to Tyler Street, Sullivan Terrace North, an eight-story multi-family apartment building, for an alarm activation. The fire alarm panel, according to Deputy Chief Glen MacDonald, indicated the problem was on the fifth floor.

" Ladder 2 and Engine 2 investigated and found a heavy smoke condition on the fifth floor," he said. "The fire was quickly extinguished. Engine 1 did a primary search of the fire floor. Two people in wheelchairs were moved to safety."

Other firefighters checked the sixth floor and found no problems.

"The Nashua Fire Marshal’s Office and Nashua Police are conducting the investigation into the cause of the fire," MacDonald added.

At 9:18 p.m., firefighters were sent to Traders Way for a report of a building fire.

When they arrived, they found "heavy fire" showing from the two-story single-family home. Firefighters searched the home but found there was no one at home at the time of the fire.

The fire was extinguished quickly and there were no injuries, according to MacDonald.
